Support services

In order to support all these teams, we run appropriate support structures. Some of our members are fully involved in this, serving the ones doing the ‘front line work’ and liberating them to fully focus on their goals.

Dakar Guesthouse

The guesthouse has 7 rooms and a total of 23 beds and is primarily for the WEC workers. We also welcome workers from different organisations and pastors as well as other guests, if space allows. The atmosphere is calm and peaceful with an international flair. It has a nice mix of our Senegal workers, expatriates, pastors and guests passing through. The facility also serves as HQ, the WEC Senegal leaders and the administrator/guesthouse manager have their offices there. The guesthouse is managed by WEC Senegal member(s). Interested in hospitality service? Contact the WEC Senegal director (directeur@wec-sn.org) to find out about job opportunities at the Guesthouse!

Short-Term Service coordinators

WEC Senegal is happy to welcome short term workers and we want to support them as much as possible before their arrival and during their time of service in Senegal. If you are interested in a short-term service (1 month to 2 years), please contact our short-term service coordinators at tasteandsee@wec-sn.org.

Language Learners Encourager

Learning language is a privilege and an opportunity to build strong relationships with the community. That’s why we encourage our workers to devote as much time as they need to learning French and/or a local language and we try to give them the help and support they need.

French students

Workers who want to join us have the opportunity, under certain conditions, to learn French in Dakar. The apprenticeship lasts from 18 months to two years, is full-time, and uses the Growing Participator Approach. Find out more at growingparticipation.com.

Local language students

When it comes to serving in a community, it’s essential to learn the language of that community, be it Wolof, Pulaar, Hassanya, etc… Wolof is widely spoken in Dakar and many other parts of Senegal, including by members of other ethnic groups. Learning Wolof in Dakar requires a great deal of discipline and a willingness to go out and meet people in order to build relationships. Indeed, it’s harder to become part of an urban community than a rural one. Nevertheless, many of our members have learned or are learning Wolof in Dakar with great success.

Other support

In order to avoid all our members having to come to Dakar for every single need, we provide some basic administration support. This means helping everybody getting their residential papers, other legal matters and running errands for them.

The aim of our Branch Leadership Team is to support all our members to find their place of service and to be content and efficient in it, whilst using and developing the gifts God has given them. We do everything possible to help our workers persevere in Senegal by providing orientation, language and culture learning support, walking alongside them, ongoing training and continually searching God’s will.
